Purpose of Job / Job Summary

  • Responsible for business development activities and to grow the company’s business in Middle East specifically within Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) countries, which includes the involvement in prospecting and tendering for new projects, shall be required to head project (s) secured within the GCC region and ensure that all key deliverables of the projects are achieved as per its budget and/or timeline

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • To identify suitable projects and joint venture partners in respective countries, and lead the team in tendering process for identified projects
  • To gather the relevant country info/business risks and disseminate the impact of the risk
  • To resource, recruit and develop or mobilise an effective project team to run the project
  • To ensure all key milestones are met and early completion of projects can be achieved
  • To ensure all works are constructed and accepted by the relevant competent authorities
  • To manage EOT claims, cost claims and other major contractual matters in consultation with the company's Executive Directors, Managing Director and relevant JV Exco, where applicable
  • To liaise with clients, external consultants, government authorities, third parties, etc. to resolve problems and expedite progress.
  • To appoint subcontractors/suppliers, in accordance to approved authority limits and to manage them effectively.
  • To prepare progress report and other relevant/operational reports for Director/MD.
  • To ensure the proper motivation and development of subordinates and staff by overseeing the recruitment, performance appraisal, training and development so as to achieve a high level of productivity
  • To ensure the proper implementation of entire system/method of cost control at site to minimize wastage of materials and eliminate/avoid pilferages
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Management from time to time.

Qualifications : Recognized degree in Civil Engineering

Experience    :  Minimum 20 years of working experience in construction sector.

Specific skills/abilities : Adequate technical expertise, good interpersonal and communication skills, effective management of project to achieve schedule and budgeted targets.

Personal Qualities  :  Good leadership qualities, good organisation skills, able to work under pressure independently, self-motivator, achievement oriented and able to lead a project team.
